Flowing center pivots and green fields signal the arrival of spring.

Dell Valley and Hudspeth County are places of extremes – vast open spaces, stark mountains, and dramatic sunsets. Each year presents its own unique extremes and challenges – winter cold snaps, spring dust storms, and scorching summer heat. Those challenges are all the more reason for Dell Valley and Hudspeth County residents – and our families and friends from near and far – to gather together, enjoy one another’s company and celebrate the pioneering spirit and special sense of community that have defined this place and continue to carry us through today.

Organizing the fair is a challenge as well. The Fair Association is grateful to all those who volunteer their time, talents and resources to make the event possible and for the generosity of our sponsors and advertisers. We are confident that the 2012 event will offer something for everyone – including DCISD football and volleyball games, live music and dancing on Friday and Saturday, a Main Street parade, team roping, a variety of entertainment and games for children, the annual softball tournament and, of course, lots of great food – including a traditional lunch on Friday, and brisket BBQ on Saturday.

We encourage everyone to begin working on their offerings for the competition in Fine Arts, Hobbies & Crafts, and Sewing. We are also looking forward to a variety of locally grown produce and flowers. Spring has arrived and is the perfect time to start planting that special salsa garden that is sure to produce a prize winning fresh salsa contest entry.  We are also looking forward to attracting more vendors along with their various wares for display at the Exhibit Barn come September.

Each year the Fair is held marks a milestone for the event and for the community – and the Dell Valley Hudspeth County Fair wouldn’t be celebrating its 54th year without your support and involvement. The Fair Association is always looking for new ideas and new energy, and we encourage anyone who is interested to get involved as we continue to plan for the 2012.
